More Prim Wonders by Bryn

I couldn't help myself. As I went through Rabbicorn *again*, with my friend Robin, I noticed yet more details that I had to take pictures of.

This is a dead fly. If you look closely at it's body, you'll see a white fan shape. This was a moving prim. Also on the body are the images of a roboboy and an angel figure.

And that dead fly was located in this TV tube. I wonder if anyone else noticed it...

See the steampunk glasses on the table?

Each hinge of the glasses had 2 spinning black gears. How do people work with prims that small?? lol Enjoy!

Rabbicorn: My experience

10:03 PM / Comments (1) / by Krissy Muggleston

I'm always hesitant to write about an event as big as Bryn Oh's opening of Rabbicorn. In fact, I usually don't. I know the blogosphere is already saturated with reviews, most of which is articulated better than I can do. So I'll just post some pictures and try to describe how the Rabbicorn story and exhibit made me feel.

In each tableau (as I heard them called), there is a fairy tail, 3D experience. I've heard it said many times, it's like a 3D picture book. So true. But let me say, if you go, be sure to cam close into every detail. One of Bryn's trademarks is her teeny tiny prim work and how they are incorporated into the overall build. (As opposed to jewelry, where the entire ensemble is tiny.) This is definitely a place that should rezz entirely for best experience. Bryn loves her prims. ;)
___

This is the cutie Bryn waiting at the beginning of the story to great her guests. Imagine my frustration when I looked at my images later only to discover my stupid interface! Ah well. I'll live.

The star of the show is behind Bryn on the table. Btw, it seems obvious, but a rabbicorn is a cross between a rabbit and a unicorn. :) The particles above the table are the teleport to the next part of the story. Also near is the page containing Part 1. You can cam to read, or click and receive a texture. (Again, stupid interface)

"what are you?"
The boy said to her
The rabbicorn thought
Then replied "i am not sure"

"Can I ride you
Like my bike?"
"I bet you could
If that's what you'd like"

This is a super close up of the Robogirl. If you look at the Robofly's head, he has a teeny tiny little moving prim. Also moving is the music box, which whirls.

And here is the Robogirl, almost my size.

This would be a great exhibit to check out, if you are typically no interested in Sl art. And this would be a great exhibit to check out, if you live for this stuff. Just a tip: This slurl takes you to the introduction. While facing the book, go right to proceed. That will help. ;) Enjoy!

Of Freakshows and Circuses... and Pornosophy?

As much as I love art, and get excited when I'm invited to previews of new installations (usually via NPIRL), I must say the most recent installation that was before me left me speechless. It's debut was April 6th, and because I knew it had a pornographic theme, I debated about going. I envisioned a fetish atmosphere with images of things I wouldn't imagine in my worst nightmares. Kinda like the time I walked around the Deviant shopping village and couldn't believe my eyes. Well anyway, I went yesterday. And it was just as I imagined, the images were very very graphic. But I don't know I can't really explain it, there was something also very provocative about them. Something artistic maybe? Loglady Loon has captured something in these images and I don't know if it's irony, or what, but I found myself looking at each of the images trying to understand what ironic message it was sending. Of course at first glance it's just plain porn. But I dunno, there's something beyond that that Loglady Loon has managed to evoke. The "sister" installation is called Freakshow, and it contains images of some freaky stuff. And yet again, provocative in some way. I would encourage you to check it out, if you dare. Be warned, it is very very adult in nature. I only tell you this: If you do choose to go, be prepared to spend some time looking at the pictures individually. If you can't do this, then there's no point in going really, at a glance it will just be a bunch of SL porn. And you can find that on Flickr.

This carnival, which I *think* is part of the Freakshow exhibit was rather fun. And these are pictures I can actually publish. :)

PreFabulous by Forni and Amo: Go look!

You know how sometimes you go to a store you've never seen before, and the quality is stellar, and the traffic is 4000+ so you figure you must be the only one who didn't know the place existed? Well I had one of those times last week, and I'm still excited. Long story short, I decided to make some changes on my parcel. I've lived in the same Botha for six months now, and we all know how many rl years that equates to. So I cleared my parcel and started new. I grew trees and wildflowers all over, and hid the adorable Shoe Shiner's House near the back. I also wanted a new skybox so I hit Xstreetsl. Somehow I came upon The Newport beach house by PreFabulous. Although this wasn't on my list, I decided to check it out in-world. It intrigued me. And this is when my utter shock and excitement began. I couldn't run around this place fast enough looking at all the designs. The textures are just so rich! Shadoes and light and detail... it's really beautiful work. So now I'm totally in love with this Newport beach house, which is really annoying because I just dropped 3500L on the cottage. Grrrr... So my idea of a little cottage in the forest probably won't last long. I'm counting the days until I no longer feel guilty for moving on to the next idea.Click here for a taxi to PreFabulous. Enjoy!

This is the adorable Newport beach house. Check out those hurricane shutters! Reminds me of my favorite Destin restaurant, The Lucky Snapper.

This is skybox heaven for anyone who loves skyboxes. There's one for every style, I assure you.

Krissy's Drama

12:36 PM / Comments (5) / by Krissy Muggleston

Ok, well the title is misleading. I don't have drama. But, upon the recommendations of Ahuva and Chestnut, I dropped by the opening celebration for Honour McMillen's Drama Dolls. These dolls are sooo dang cute! It was hard to decide which one to buy, they are all so fun. And she has made a ton of them to choose from. In the end, I bought a Drow.. because I liked her ears. Although I'm not exactly sure what a Drow is really.

[9:17] You Know Who You Are: Hello, what's on your mind?
[9:17] Krissy Muggleston: You made me think we were friends. But in the end, you were only testing me.
[9:17] You Know Who You Are: asks You mean me?
[9:17] Krissy Muggleston: Yes!
[9:17] You Know Who You Are: says What?
[9:17] Krissy Muggleston: pfff
[9:17] You Know Who You Are: asks Me?
[9:17]Krissy Muggleston: Yes!
[9:17] You Know Who You Are: says I'm shocked!
[9:17] Krissy Muggleston: You shouldn't be!
[9:17] You Know Who You Are: says No!
[9:17] Krissy Muggleston: Yes!
[9:17] You Know Who You Are: hopes that you're talking to somebody else!
[9:17] Krissy Muggleston: pfff
[9:17] You Know Who You Are: hates this!
[9:18] Krissy Muggleston: whateva
[9:18] You Know Who You Are: cries You must be mistaken!
[9:18] Krissy Muggleston: you make me mad. >|
[9:18] You Know Who You Are: I am no better than a slug! I should have behaved better. [9:18] You Know Who You Are: I don't deserve anybody as wonderful as you!
[9:18] You Know Who You Are: I am entirely to blame.
[9:18] You Know Who You Are: I'm ashamed of my behaviour.
[9:18] You Know Who You Are: I realize now that being inconsiderate is a stupid way to behave. [9:18] You Know Who You Are: I sincerely regret my actions and I will always feel bad for hurting you.
[9:18] You Know Who You Are: Thank you for giving me the chance to apologize!
[9:19] You Know Who You Are: I deserve to suffer for causing you pain! I am a failure as a drow! [9:19] You Know Who You Are: Please accept my apology!

Weeeell... ok. I accept. Because I'm nice like that. :)) I won't show you what You Know Who You Are's final fate was... I'll let that be a surprise for you to discover with your own Drama Doll. Enjoy!

Sassy Girl!

I've mentioned several times on this blog and also on What The Fug! my opinion that child avatars can look good. I've actually seen some really beautiful child avatars that made me wish they could all look that way. And so there I was at Curio, picking up a skin, totally engrossed in my choice. As I look down and to my left, there she was. A little girl standing just near me, blowing raspberries at me! I'm sorry but it was cute. Her avatar was very well put together. The picture isn't great but I had to hurry before she stopped. LOL

Happy Birthday To You, You Live In A Zoo...

12:02 PM / Comments (5) / by Krissy Muggleston

Well it's birthday time again for Second Life. The big 6! The artists/creators/exhibitors are feverishly setting up their installations at SL6B as we speak. My dear friend Robin Moore procured an exhibitor's group invite for me, since I'm "on his build team". ;)) It's been really fun for me to wander the sims looking at progress. Sometimes wondering where something is going conceptually, and sometimes asking myself 'are they done with that?'. /me looks at Manx Wharton.. ;) I would never critique an artist, at least out loud, because I'm not so art-savvy that I can always see the vision or the message. I tend to interpret art at face-value, which probably shows that I'm a novice in this way. Robin's parcel is in good company, Manx is his neighbor, as is Misprint Thursday. My good friend Kolor is near another buddy, Scarp Godenot. It's fun to check out what my friends are doing and also see the artists that I admire from afar.

Robin's install contains a hand dropping down his diaramas onto the ground. Robin's diaramas have been featured many times at Brooklyn Is Watching, Chakryn Forest and Tonight Live. He shares a gallery, Mirage In My Mind, with Kean Kelly, both of whom have great items for free. (Actually, all of Kean's items are free.)

Kolor's install is so cool. Standing near the silver dots, you can draw shapes by left clicking. The dots form your drawing.

And when the dots form your drawing, so do the corresponding prims which are way larger than life. Kolor and I had fun exploring the SL6B, we agreed it was more fun when it's almost empty... kind of like being at the circus before it opens.

And Mr. Scarp Godenot's crazy sculpture is a fun one. I tried to illustrate how it radiates light from within, but we all know my photog skills.

This is an install by Rusalka Writer. I don't know this person, but I really really like SL scultpures that include people, and this one is a shining example.

Bryn Oh has a small installation at SL6B, which seems to be a preview of an installation that will be starting on IBM 3 in July.

That's it for my SL6B wanderings for now... Enjoy! :)
