Having been a Second Life resident now for almost three years, sometimes I think I’ve seen it all. But each new place has something unique, and The Rose Theatre is no different. This is a sim-wide venue for live performances, productions and exhibitions. Every square inch of this sim is meticulously, flawlessly pleasing to the eye. The landing point is situated just in front of the theatre. From here one can meander through the gardens or proceed with entry to the theatre. The gardens are full of serene vistas overlooking the ocean, beautifully-kept flower beds, exotic animals and lovely areas to sit and chat over wine or coffee or whatever drink you choose. Photographers will especially love the stunning Windlight possibilities. With gardens like this, what can one expect from within the theatre? Pixel grandeur on the largest scale, that’s what! The owner, Kaya Angel, has quite a talent for building, texturing, terraforming, etc. This man basically designed, created and rezzed this massive project almost entirely himself. He created nearly everything, including the trees. It was a ‘wow’ moment for me to realize this was a place he built from scratch. His real life skills for event and performance planning have served him well in Second Life. The Ball Room and the Opera House both have massive stages with beautiful lighting. The Ball Room contains table and chair seating around the perimeter at both the lower and upper levels, with room for dancing near the center. The Opera house provides theatre seating both at the lower level and balcony for those live performances. On the main floor, Kaya Furniture occupies a wing, and also sponsors The Rose Theatre. At Kaya Furniture you will find many of the fine furniture found throughout the build. Upstairs, the Grand Hall can be rented for private parties, weddings and other functions as well as artist exhibitions. The Rose Theatre can also be used by theatrical SL groups and artists for free. There is so much to see and do at The Rose Theatre. Be prepared to spend some quality time for picture taking, inventory sorting and right clicking; because you will not want to leave after you arrive. You’ll pick out a lovely bistro seat over-looking the ocean, and then perhaps get lost in IMs. Check out The Rose Theatre’s website for numerous teleport points as well as dates and times of scheduled performances and functions.
