22/365 - A Tour Of Krissy's Homestead

I don't know where the days have gone, but I'm always on the same day as Chestnut and she says 22, so it's 22.

Because I'm a self-professed voyeur, one of my favorite types of blog posts are pictorial home tours. Even better when personal stories and thoughts accompany each picture. I've thought about offering a tour of my home, but I always gave this idea up because I didn't want the post to seem boastful. I've since gotten past that and decided to take some snaps. Aren't most of us a little proud of what we've put together for our little abode? It's an informal style of art and design, no? Not to mention all the linden coin we invest. ;)

After drifting from one prefab to another this summer, I finally found happiness in the Elate! Summer Beach Cottage. At the time of this purchase, it was the only prefab available. But indeed an excellent one, I look forward to seeing more.

I've recently been choosing some Christmas decorations to display. Because I have to be conscious of my prims, I'm choosing carefully which low prim items make the biggest impact. The lights are my favorite, I'm glad I saw them on Alicia Chenaux's blog. They are from Beloved Custom Designs. Btw, I made this front stoop. The prefab didn't include any type of front porch, so I made steps that coordinate perfectly with the back porch.

Awww I just bought this neko stone today at Mid-night Melody. The purchase includes 5 different versions of this stone, all with varying degrees of moss growth. I plopped some cosmos on his head for good measure. If you have a particular fondness for cats, let me know and I'll transfer one of my stones to you. Or better yet, go check out this store. Cute stuff!

My cottage from the back. I'm also lucky that my neighbor Anika has the most beautiful parcel of wild flowers for my viewing pleasure. :)

So let's go inside now, shall we? The Elate! Summer Cottage has 2 rooms. A large one, and a smaller one. I like big open spaces and I tend not to worry about bathrooms and kitchens so this suits me. I should mention that these walls are texture change too. The cottage is modify, so I've retextured the floors myself.

I love hardwood floors with area rugs, both in rl *and* SL. But I'm thinking, as I look at this picture, why didn't I put a glass of wine at the table with me??

A glass of wine is missing from this picture too. ;)

My favorite thing in this picture is the lamp. It was made by my friend and neighbor, Marcopol Oh of Marcopol Oh Studio. Almost every light or lamp in my home is his because they help me combine modern with shabby chic.

And the lamp deserves it's own attention. This feather lamp is a string of paper mache squares, each topped with a delicate white feather. How chic is that? I love it.

This is the second, smaller room in this cottage. I chose the wall color "red", as it's so muted that it looks like a dark pinkish mauve.
So there you have it. A look at my crib. Let's see yours! I would love the ideas and inspiration. :)
