Opening tomorrow is a great exhibit hosted by Brooklyn Is Watching, for the salon des refusés, those artists nominated for the Brooklyn Is Watching Year One 30 Best, but did not pass the voting process. (ie, the brilliant rejects). See here for opening and closing reception details which include a performance by Tuna Oddfellow. I've been a fan of BiW for a very long time, as they've blogged and pobcasted my good friend Robin's work numerous times. If you aren't familiar, they are the SL presence for the RL museum Jack The Pelican Presents, in Brooklyn NY. Their sim in SL is a place for artists to rezz their works in the hopes of attracting the eye of the museum panelists, many of which are curators at RL museums, including MOMA. It always fascinates me that they seem to really *get* the artists. Robin always has to explain to me the messages and inspirations of his pieces. BiW knows. They see it immediately. It's a show of art appreciation that they want to honor somehow those artists that did not make it through the voting process. The final five artists for Brooklyn Is Watching Best of Year One are: Dancoyote Antonelli, Glyph Graves, Bryn Oh, Selavy Oh, and Nebulosus Severine. Legends. I'm really really proud of Robin, he's humble and quiet and turns out these amazing pieces and gets so much joy when others appreciate his work. I'm lucky that he has transitioned into a RL friend.
The exhibit is set up to showcase the artist's work in shadow boxes. So clever. Robin's box is in the far upper right corner. Many boxes were still empty as of last night, as the exhibit doesn't open until the 6th of August.

I just had to take a picture of Soror Nishi's tree. She's so cute.. her trees are adorable.
